I highly recommend people try the hair transplant route instead. They has become very advanced, definitely works, and you can do it once and then forget about the problem for years / decades / your life, depending on the extent of the issue.
It's just taking a hair from one part of your head, the back, where it's programmed to stay for life, and planting it in another part where you need it more. IMO this hardly more extreme than a cosmetic treatments like braces, which also involves moving body parts to where you want them to be. Anyway, I highly recommend that route.
Some men lose even the hair on the back of the head early on, so in their case, this solution won't do. At least, they would have to try to transplant hair from somewhere else, which seems dubious.
My 2 cents, having dealt with this long ago:
While those treatments may work, they seem like a lot of *effort* to me, to be applying those chemicals every day. Also, while they won't kill you, they may have more subtle side effects like impotence: https://www.webmd.com/men/news/20110309/sexual-side-effects-of-hair-loss-drugs-persist

I think that is relatively rare, but true, in that case a transplant would not work.
If I were in that group I can say that I'd just go for the bald look rather than engage in that uphill fight.
Is there data on how much hair affects attractiveness, ceteris paribus? Maybe a crossover study with wigs on bald guys.
Do one on how to increase testosterone pls.
