Fascinating analysis. Yet, I always think there's an important element that's missed in data about this. There's a big difference between liking gigantic floppy breasts and liking pert, perky breasts, yet both are a thing that some men specifically like. Yet men who specifically like “butts” seem to pretty much all like large, round buttocks. No one ever wrote a song proclaiming that they like small butts and they cannot lie, but for example one of the biggest hits by noted beauty Shakira features a section all about how small her breasts are.

So it could be that the difference is not so much between men who like breasts vs men who like buttocks, as that the breast-likers are a split sample, some of whom are very different to the buttock-likers but some of whom are quite similar. Perhaps your upcoming study could incorporate that distinction.

These are such tiny differences. Blacks, Hispanics, and Whites all between 70-75% saying that face is the most important. There are much larger race differences, this is more similar than I'd expect.

It's an artifact of this method of studying it I think. We will do a better study and see.

Social desirability bias. These are self-report figures that were to be seen by others—even worse than normal survey data which is private between the respondent and the interviewer. It's amazing anyone was willing to put something other than the face.

I agree but also consider looking at the growth in preferences for “Butts” it’s more than 3 times

An attractive face seems like a timeless trait. When in doubt go with the pretty face over the round waist.

is this related a factor to racial/ethnic variation in rape crime?

There is a study that claimed that White women (especially North European) have the largest breasts. European fashion has featured historically a deep cleavage, hourglass shaped waist and complete coverage of legs.

Maybe a preference for boobs is genetically more pronounced in Europeans.

It probably has to do with neoteny. The most neotenous races are usually the highest IQ, and they have the biggest head to body size ratios. Therefore being more attracted to the head and breasts which are closer makes more sense, as the buttocks is not as prominent in neotenous races. However, there are also studies that show lower waist-to-hip mothers give birth to smarter children, and the neotenous races also tend to have lower WHR's because of the increased head size of their offspring, despite their overall smaller buttocks and body.
