Wow. I'm really in a bubble. I think of myself as a bit of a rebel and non-conformist, yet I'm 60 years old, have never been arrested, and am unaware of having any friends who have ever been arrested.
Some friends have arrested other people (thinking of one guy who was an MP in the Army).
Agreed - this is absolutely jaw-dropping, and though Emil's work does look thorough, I admit that I just can't help but find the results dubious. I lived my adolescent and young-adult life in a very low socioeconomic bracket, and have only recently reached what could be fairly described as middle class. Yet I still don't know anyone who has ever _admitted_ to being arrested.
Maybe this is the real answer: within certain social circles, arrest becomes rare enough that people think twice about discussing it openly.
