Stereotypes Lee Jussim (also blog) has done a tremendous job at reviewing the stereotype literature in recently years. In general he has found that stereotypes are mostly moderately to very accurate. On the other hand, self-fulfilling prophecies are probably real but fairly limited (e.g. work best when teachers don't know their students well yet), especially in comparison to stereotype accuracy.
