I was the person who sent Gwern the link for missing picture for male querness vs height , so he added it

Homosexuality and submissiveness are caused by prenatal hormones, while height is influenced by circulating hormones during puberty. The former can impact the latter but they're not identical. I had extremely low T during puberty but have the sexuality of a normal straight male.

On male height vs non-heterosexuality on OKCupid, I suspect the left side of the graph can be at least partially explained by short heterosexual men self-selecting out of online dating (because they are so unsuccessful, due to stringent female height preferences). This would line up with 6'2" men being the most straight - straight 6'2" men are very successful on dating apps and thus use them more.

Luxury beliefs held by elites? Taller than average significantly is correlated. Intelligence with openness too.

OkCupid blog also have similar queerness vs height plot for women, but they deleted it and I do not know if anybody has a copy of it.... SAD.

I don't think so. Gwern archived all the pages, but if you can find the URL of the old page, check archive.org to see if it's there.

Just measurement error? Besides some Hispanic trends none of these shifts look that impressive. And Hispanics can be explained by some story about immigration.

Height is easy to measure and these graphs are made from 10000s of people from national surveys.

Well, as you know, large samples do not mean there can’t be a selection effect. Just a slight difference in recruiting the sample could make a difference of less than a centimetre. You’re expecting the lines to stay exactly flat? You’re expecting too much.

Selection bias would have to be changing over time to explain this. It's not a plausible model.

Just a speculation on height and homosexuality - women have a preference for tall men, but prefer them up to about 6'3"-6'4", which corresponds to the lowest incidence of homosexuality. 6'5" and above men are less attractive to women and that loss of attractiveness increases with greater height - as does homosexuality.

I think the pattern in the graph is explained by the fact that having high T levels means some of that will convert to estrogen, stunting one's growth. The castrati were known for being tall. Also, mutations that could lead to abnormal height may also be linked to deviant sexuality.

I'd find it odd that 6'6" man would have same SMV (in women's eyes) that a 5'4" man.

I think your specualtion true -- for low end. Maybe the early hormonal perturbations which lead to non-heterosuxality also increase probabilty of unstable height. Then queerness on the plot is a sum of (roughtly symmetric) unstability caused by hormonal + low SMV of short men.

These data are mostly old so recent black immigrants cannot explain things. But if I redid the analysis we could try excluding them to see if this matters.
