AssocEd in three Q1 journals here. The biggest problem in publishing today is the number-crunching. sorry, Emil - I love your stuff, but for the ideas, not the discussions of Cronbach Alphas) Ideas? Pah! We want stuff without ideas full of meaningless numbers. Original thought is pooh-poohed. And about Edinburgh in the 18th century: every academic had to swear an oath on the Presbytery and if Adam Smith hadn't helped Hume, Hume would be unknown. A tiny hurdle there? And while we are talking about Smith: try and find numbers in any of his works. Would he get published today? Stupid question.
